This holiday season, join us for a mirth and music-filled celebration of the things that illuminate our lives … of songs and tales of the people, places and times that shed love, laughter and light into darkest season … as told by the sailors who spent many a midwinter night in and around the frosty North Atlantic.

"Season of the Sailor" focuses on original and traditional songs that come from the Atlantic maritime tradition -- songs sailors sang during the long winter months at sea ... songs they wrote about spending the holidays far from home ... and songs and stories they enjoyed on the rare occasions they could be home during the holidays.

Some of the things you might hear include (click on the links to hear samples!):

- Stories and songs that come from immortal poetry, such as C. Fox Smith's Bill's Christmases, and Robert Louis Stevenson's "Christmas at Sea"

- Inspirational pieces about light and life, on land and sea, including Bob's classic originals Horizons, Light from the Lighthouse and When All Thy Names Are One

- Holiday classics spanning the centuries, coming from traditions of the countries and cultures surrounding the stormy North Atlantic

- Instrumentals, old and new, including Beaucatcher Farewell, Willoughby Sunrise, and the Sailor's Hornpipe

- Songs that look toward the New Year, including Eight Bells and The End of Another Year

Enjoy Bob's multi-instrumentalist fare on everything from squeezeboxes, guitars, banjo, banjola and hurdy-gurdy, to spoons and jaw harp ... with plenty of room for audience participation and singing-along, too, and fun for all ages!
